What is Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral Palsy is a group of neurological conditions that affect muscle tone, movement and posturing. It can be caused by a brain injury before, during or after birth. The severity of the condition varies greatly between children.
How does early intervention help?
Research shows that the earlier intervention starts the more progress your child can make due to critical windows of brain development.
Physiotherapy can help regulate muscle tone, help with motor milestones such as sitting, crawling and walking as well as improve balance and coordination. There are also proven benefits such as improved strength and endurance. All of these can result in improved physical function and activities of daily living thereby leading to a better quality of life.
Incorporating exercises into daily routines helps improve compliance and consistency. This will impact their overall success with their therapy.
